Curriculum

Early Years

The Early Years Unit at Bramley Park Academy is a fun, vibrant and exciting place for children of all abilities and backgrounds to learn in. We have a range of exciting learning opportunities linked in with carefully chosen topics which are planned around childrens interests.

We have a Nursery unit and a Reception unit plus a large outdoor area which we are constantly improving. All children in Early Years have access to this, and as with the indoors, activities are set up and planned in line with the topic and childrens interests.

Nursery and Reception children have focused sessions throughout the day in their own unit but also have the opportunity to join together and access all areas of provision in both classrooms.

Reception follow the Read, Write Inc. Phonics scheme which groups children in ability in order for all children to learn at their individual level. Nursery follow the Letters and Sounds Phase One Phonics initially but will, as the year moves on start accessing the Read, Write Inc. Nursery programme as and when they are ready.

We use a programme called ‘Cornerstones’ to plan and deliver our creative and inspiring topics which have some very exciting and interesting themes, enough of which means your child will not repeat a topic in Reception that they have in Nursery. These topics include all aspects of the curriculum enabling your child to grow and develop across the Prime and specific areas of the Early Years curriculum.
